Camping

We headed out for a one night camping trip Sunday evening. We only had to drive around 30 miles to get to the perfect spot. We traveled into a canyon in the Crazy Mountain range. I teasingly told the kids that we would be haunted by Jeremiah Johnsons Ghost. We set up camp and cooked hamburgers. The kids immediately started building a small fort. We ended the evening by playing a game of Phase 10. And went to bed, as the hail started pounding our camper roof, I was grateful to not be in a tent. The thunder echoed through the canyon, and I was ungrateful that I made a remark about Ghosts earlier. I suggested we have a family prayer to ease any bad feelings the kids (me) were having. The hail turned to rain and I was soothed to sleep by its rhythmic pitter patter. The next morning we woke to a beautiful sunny day. We decided to try our luck at fishing, and learned that we were not meant to be bountiful fishermen that day. So we headed back to camp. The boys and I went for a short hike. Then we all returned to play a few hands of SWAP. We also went for a walk with the dogs. Chili-dog proved to be quite brave. The kids had just enough time for a moss fight? and Kenneth even got into it by wearing a moss hair piece. It was so great to spend time together without the distractions of home.

Camping is one of the best memories that we have for family vacations. Glad you can travel so close to home and have such a good time.
