Dentist day was today... I took the day off from the kids and went to see what the good old Doc could do to repair my broken off tooth. I told him I would not be getting braces so he had free reign... within reason of course. He said his suggestion to me would be permanent crowns on my front teeth. Its probably a good thing I didn't read up on what this entails when I went in. The smell was
awful.... as he ground away my lovely (well not lovely but mostly mine) front teeth. Halfway through the procedure... I excused myself to the little girls room. The Dental
assistant said "don't look in the mirror" it might freak you out." To me that was like telling a child not to look at Santa Clause.... It was temptation... I looked... and I will be
permanently scarred for life... I'm talking nightmares for the rest of my life. She was not joking. Anyhow he finished up and I have a brand new temporary pair of front teeth, and in December I will have
permanent new front teeth. One's that look real.. Ones that aren't
cracky, crooked, or a different color from my other front teeth. I'm very excited. I'm kind of glad that crap fell off the other day because it forced me to do something for myself that I may have not done before.

Oh - I'm curious to see what your teeth look like. I've never thought you had ugly looking teeth. I had the same thing done to a tooth that you had done before your permanent crowns. I never thought much about my teeth until I would look at pictures and then I would say, "dag, I look like crap! why doesn't anyone tell me this stuff?" Finally, a dentist felt sorry for me or something and offered to fix it temporarily and then when money isn't an issue I could get the real deal done. It's been 3 years and I don't see any signs of it being a different color or even becoming loose. He said it should hold up a good 10 years or so. We'll see. I'm so curious to see your pearly whites! Send pictures if you don't want to post.
I hope you're happy with the end result! We gotta do something good for ourselves every now and then. =)
I had to have a root canal and then a crown this year. I could tell what he was doing as he prepped my mouth for the crown. Glad I couldn't see what it actually looked like. I can just imagine the horror movies where they file their teeth down to points so that they are more like fangs.
We should all be forced to do something good for ourselves once in a while, especially as mamas.
Post some pictures!
I can understand. I have nightmares because That is all I do all days is watch people losing their teeth and also getting crowns. I am not sure what I will do when I go to get work done. SLA has successfully taught me how to make temporary crowns. I hope that yours turn out the way that you want and that you are happy with them.
Time to go back to work. The wonderful job of a dental assistant! YA (Jk)
I had to have caps put on my front teeth forever ago - actually it was the week before Abenanna's wedding. My problem was caused by all the lemons i ate as a youth which in turn ate away my teeth. After getting the caps, I worried for a long time that they were going to fall off - 30+ years later, I usually forget they aren't my teeth - however, I'm thinking maybe I should get them replaced next year - need to find out from the dentist what that would run. Good luck to you.
