Friday Friday hip hip hooray!

I just have to say this week shaped up into a pretty, I won't say great, but oddly enjoyable week. Yesterday it was even warm enough to let the kids play outside. If there's a repeat today I may even take them to the park. I have to say the best part of my day yesterday came in the rare form of one of my daycare kids (generally not one that makes me have good moments) We were doing crafts and it occurred to him that I did not have one... "Tiffy why isn't there ever enough for you?" He thought I got left out. I was touched that he even cared whether I had one or not, most of the kids would have never noticed. Small and simple things.
We don't really have a big weekend planned. Basketball tomorrow and that's about it. But there are a couple movies out that I'd like to rent. Juno is playing at our local theatre, but I don't know if I'm up to leaving the kids so I can watch it alone. I would really like to see it... we'll see.

MY DAY JUST GOT SO MUCH BETTER!

I kid you not... why didn't anyone tell me such a wonder exsisted. We went down to the local IGA to pick up salad and garlic bread for tonights spagetti and there it was in the frozen section. If there was a perfect cookie it would be the Samoa girlscout cookie. And now united with icecream, I feel like I may faint. You can not go wrong here. What a glorious day this has turned out to be!

Happy Hoodie Hoo Day!

How many of you went outside and noon today, waved your hands in the air and shouted HOODIE HOO, HOODIE HOO hoping to shake off the dulldrums of winter. I'd like to say I did, unfortunatly even though I wrote it on my calender I forgot until 1:00.
Today was a lovely day anyway, after the morning. I had potty trouble again... not myself... but issues anyway. But come afternoon, I've had somewhat of a pleasant afternoon. I just kind of found a peaceful place within myself, which is a good thing because I've had of a lot of anxiety lately. So peaceful is good, regardless of what brought it on. Maybe it was the spell of the Hoodie Hoo!

My Day with Wyatt

Today being the Presidents Day... I spent it with the president of crazy- Wyatt (although he refers to himself as the President of Awesomeness... which I agree he is perty awesome). We went and did my early Easter shopping and Kaseys birthday shopping. Somewhere between Target and Ross I convinced Wyatt to chop his curly locks in exchange for a sleek new look. So Fun! I did bribe him with some new skate attire. But what a nice day we had.

What a great day I had yesterday... I mean it from start to finish just a wonderful wonderful day. Even daycare was fun with our own little valentine party complete with crafts, games and cupcakes, and I neglected to take even one picture. The day was complete with thoughtful gifts from my hubby and a dinner out. My yucky sinus problems couldn't even damper the great day I had.

Tales from the QUEEN of Potty Training...HAHAHA

Disclaimer: I am not an expert in the field of potty training.

You've heard the stories... you know the signs: the child stays dry through the night, they show interest in the potty, they act uncomfortable in their soiled diaper. The signs that say Hey mom I'm ready. You get excited, your heart all a flutter, you jump a little jump for joy. You buy some underwear, and a little potty special just for him. You introduce them. Child this is your new potty, Potty this is your new child. And they lived happily ever after..... NOT! (I haven't said that in a long time.) Then it begins, the upward ever upward battle of potty training. I'd like to say I have always been relaxed on the subject, but when my boys were little, it was quite literally the push from outside sources that made me think, IT IS TIME. Had anyone warned of the nightmare that lay before me, I never would of even tried. I battled my oldest son for well over a year on the subject. Diapers, underwear, Diapers, underwear. Pee everywhere.... like puddles after a spring rain.... and we won't even talk about the other end. Then one day... after he had turned 3 I bought a video. It was a video that sang about pee and poop, potties and washing your hands.... it was the miracle I'd been hoping for. Because that is when something inside his little head clicked. The moment it all made sense. And he never had an accident again. NOW this is not the miracle solution for all children. My second son, followed his big brothers example, that made it click with him. He potty trained a little earlier. Then there was Daughter number one. I was so excited for her because I was told girls were easier than boys. Not so much! For months she would hide in the closet, sometimes accompanied by her friend and they would Poop together. Seriously, like it was a club, and you had to poop your pants to join. I'm not sure what was the clicking point for her.... One day we just woke up and she was done. Last but not least.... my WILD CHILD. I'm not sure she ever showed any interest at all, but at 3 1/2 I finally decided it was time. I bought the potty, I bought stickers, I bought incentives, I bought pull ups and panties with pretty designs, I bought candy, and she still gladly pottied in her pants. I got serious.... then when that didn't work I put her back in diapers for a couple more months.... then I started over again. I bought a video... I bought more incentives. And then I went to work... like I've never worked before. We went potty every hour, every 2 hours, every 1/2 an hour. She cried "I don't want to go potty." I cried. But after four children and a wiser point of view... the thought echoed through my mind, and gave me the courage to go on... No one ever started kindergarten in diapers! It doesn't matter wether your child gets it at 18 months or 4. They Will Get It. Something will make it click for them. My WILD CHILD still has an occasional accident, but she's almost there, and my potty training saga will be over, and it will be a small bump on the big map. So good luck to all of those about to or in the middle of embarking on this great adventure, that seems all uphill... until you look back and say "wow that's right, we made it." And just remember they don't ask you when you were potty trained on your college applications!

a week into a month???

That little flu bug... the one that caused Kasey to be sick... has spread. The rest of us have it now. What a fun weekend... can you feel the sarcasm. Today Kynzie woke up feeling nasty... I'm still feeling Nasty, Wyatt looks like the walking dead, and Kasey tossed and turned and moaned and cried all night. I'm going to take her back to the Doctor today to make sure there isn't something more going on there, and maybe while I'm there they can give Kynzie the medicine that helps shorten the flu virus while we were there. This is the moment you say... why oh why didn't we get those blasted flu shots. The teachers that got them aren't catching this bug... while all of their kids, my daycare kids, have been hit hard, most of them being out of daycare or school for an average of 4 days.

For a nicer point... I'm waiting to hear whether my sweet daycare baby is a big sister to a boy or girl today, as her mother went in this morning for her scheduled c-section. My prayers are certianly with her family today.

My spellcheck is still having issues is this blogger wide or just me?

a day into a week

Friday already! I took the whole week off due to Kasey being sick, the yucky yucky flu bug hit her hard. I'd like to say I got a lot accomplished without the other kids here, but well I didn't. I did however spend a lot of time cuddling with Kasey, and I don't get to do that very often. She usually doesn't sit still long enouph to cuddle with me. I finished another Jodi Picoult book. I'm on a roll. This one was called the Tenth Circle. I'm now in the middle of reading, The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold. I will read this winter away... and one day I will wake up and it will be warm outside and I will put my books on the shelf for another time I need to escape somewhere not frozen. Reading is a good thing.
after thought: What is up with the spell check?
